SHERWOOD BUICK GMC GIVES BACK!

Every year, Sherwood Buick GMC donates to various local and international charities. We love giving back to the community and helping others. We have chosen 5 non-profit organizations this year that we will be supporting, we hope that with our help we can bring more awareness to these organizations.

Dreamcatcher is a local psychology practice that boasts a holistic approach to healing; offering a wide variety of traditional and unique therapies to help children, youth and adults find healing, balance and joy that contributes to their personal growth. They are also a non registered charity that’s resources are utilized to subsidize and/or cover the cost of their clinical services in order to remove financial barriers for those in need. Many different programs are offered, such as “The Fuzzy Face Express” which is a mobile animal program which provides therapeutic recreation, aid for mental health disorders, social interaction and joy for those who are elderly, homeless, or sick.

“I have volunteered at Dreamcatcher for many years now. I love seeing how they can positively impact peoples lives. Without volunteers & donations, this organization wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of care for these animals. The money we donate will go towards the cost of the clinical services & provide the animals with food, medications, veterinary care, and the maintenance of the animal shelters.” –Megan E – Used Deal Clerk

The Robin Hood Association is the primary provider of services to children and adults with development disabilities in Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan & surrounding areas. They rely on the support of individual, business and community groups to continue to deliver quality services to the people they serve. Our dealership has been able to offer work experience to some of these individuals. Once a week we host a few Robin Hood associates that help keep our store clean! The warm and welcoming presence of these wonderful people have given many smiles to staff and customers that have interacted with them. Donating to this organization would give us the chance to give back to them for the services they have provided to us for many years. It would also be an investment in the lives of some of our very own families that need the assistance of this association to help them achieve their personal best and experience a quality lifestyle.

WINGS (Women In Need Growing Stronger) offers a second-stage shelter and affordable housing for women with children who have experienced family violence. They address the social, psychological and health issues affecting women and children of all race, cultural and religious backgrounds. This organization has helped a few of our own employees that wish to remain anonymous due to the nature of the subject. They did however express their gratitude for how this shelter changed their life for the better and do believe they would not be here today if they didn’t exist. They are in desperate need of donations due to the impact Covid-19 has had on them due to lack of resources and supplies. Donating here can help many women and children within our community live a life without family violence.

SCARS helps communities by taking in pets that are unwanted or slated for euthanasia. They also take in stray and abandoned pets, many of which are sick or injured. Every animal is given a veterinary and behavioral assessment and any medical care or rehabilitation they require until they find their loving home. Donating to SCARS would mean supporting our furry friends, and providing veterinary care to help as many pets as possible that are in need. Some of our own employees at Sherwood Buick have adopted animals from this rescue, so getting the chance to give back to a volunteer run organization that is funded strictly by donation would mean the world to them.

The Stollery’s vision is to give all kids the best chance to live a long and healthy life. Their mission is to raise money in support of children’s health care and to help educate communities about the ongoing hospital needs. The Stollery has given many of our employees a chance at a life with their children. Donating to this organization would mean the world to a handful of people, as well as offer life saving procedures to children and their families that may not have been able to afford it.

“My oldest, Eddy, as most of you know throughout the dealership from her lovely little notes, had a febrile seizure and had to be rushed to the Stollery. They are amazing at what they do, but I hope neither of my children never see the place again!” – Ryan M, Finance Manager

When my niece was 6 months old she had bacterial meningitis. The Stollery was able to catch and treat it quickly. I am thankful that the Stollery is available here and specialized in children’s health. I will always support this charity as this hits close to home.” – Ashley S, Lube Advisor

“My youngest grandson had open heart surgery there over 14 years ago! We are all so fortunate to have such an amazing facility right here.” – Maureen K, Service Cashier

“My son was born at 36 weeks and he was a preemie. Everything went well through the procedure, but when my son was being weighed he stopped breathing. I had to leave with him and leave my wife on the operating table. The happiest day of our life turned into uncertainty. Luckily the NICU Stollery just opened so I took him there. He stayed for 2 weeks but I know some babies are there a lot longer than 2 weeks so if it wasn’t for the Stollery who knows what would have happened travelling to another hospital. We thanked those nurses and doctors for all their work getting our little guy strong enough to come home. Every chance we get to donate we do, and I’m so thankful for their services.”  – Sherwood Buick GMC Employee
